Jessica Chastain’s Character Controls Jean Grey in X-Men: Dark Phoenix Image

We've already gone through several X-villains in the X-Men franchise like Apocalypse and William Stryker, but we know so very little about who Jessica Chastain's villain is in Dark Phoenix. Just in, we have an image of her character seemingly controlling Jean Grey.

Check it out:

With the Phoenix Force said to have been awakened by a space mission, it's been rumored that Chastain's character is actually an alien. Several people have guessed who she could be playing from Xavier's evil ‘twin' Cassandra Nova to a gender-bent Mister Sinister. If anything, she must be a pretty big character for Fox to be so tight-lipped on who she is.

Then again, she could be someone completely new. Either way, we should have had some kind of reveal by now.

With the Disney/Fox acquisition set to finalize early this year, it's been said that Dark Phoenix will be the last film in the main X-Men timeline. The last movie of the entire franchise is said to be the horror-themed New Mutants which comes out much later in the year.

While the X-Men films had their ups and downs, I just hope Fox manages to end it with some dignity. After all, X-Men from 2000 was what started this whole boom of modern superhero films. It paved the way for the likes of Raimi's Spider-Man, and eventually the MCU.

Catch X-Men: Dark Phoenix when it hits theaters June 7.
