Jeremy Renner Reveals How He Broke His Arms and How He Pushed Through For Avengers 4

Pretty much everyone is looking forward to Hawkeye's return in Avengers 4, after not appearing in Infinity War. This is why many were shocked when it was revealed that Jeremy Renner, the man who portrays the Avenging Archer, broke both of his arms during the shooting of Tag with Jon Hamm.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Renner discussed the stunt that ended up breaking both of his arms. Renner was being chased by Hamm, Ed Helms, Hannibal Buress, and Jake Johnson. He ended up racing through stacked chairs, which collapsed and lead to Renner crashing down and breaking his arms.

Miraculously, Renner said that he didn't know his arms were broken and proceeded to re-do the stunt with no problems. Still, he noticed that his arms were still in pain so he went to the hospital where his injuries were confirmed. Two splints were put in his arms, though he didn't take any pain medication so that he could feel if he pushed himself too hard.

When he ended up returning to the set of Avengers 4, where he ended up taking various arm therapy sessions. As he explains below, he ended up pushing through the pain to finish the role, just like a real hero.

"It's sort of like a battle of my will to heal as fast as I possibly could, I did therapy just painfully everyday and I was able to get through it all as best as I could. What else do you do, you just stop and cry and everyone go home? You know what I mean? I'd be like, ‘sorry guys, I'm not going to use a bow and arrow now in Avengers,' it's silly, so I have to kind of push through so that you can perform for everyone."

Avengers 4 comes out on May 3, 2019.
