James Gunn Receives Support from Zack Snyder on DCU Plans

When DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled their first slate of the new DCU franchise last week, it was met with mostly enthusiastic responses from fans who are excited to see how the duo will execute their ambitious plan for the new iteration of the DC franchise on screen.

However, there is still a segment of the fandom that responded with skepticism and some of them were hoping that they could have continued Zack Snyder's plans or even see the former DC director come back to the franchise after the success of Zack Snyder's Justice League.

Recently, Gunn responded to the "#sellthesnyderversetonetflix" fan campaign on Twitter and called it the "wackiest campaign" and revealed that Snyder has no interest in doing it due to his current work with Netflix based on the conversation that he recently had with the director.

"I have to say, this has got to be the wackiest hashtag ever since 1) Netflix hasn’t expressed any such interest (although we’ve discussed other stuff) & 2) Zack hasn’t expressed any interest & seems to be happy doing what he’s doing (and, yes, we too have talked)," he wrote.

When a fan asked the DC Studios co-chairman what he and Snyder discussed, he responded by sharing that the former DC director has shown his support for their plans for the new DCU franchise.

Gunn said, "He contacted me to express his support about my choices. He’s a great guy. Again, he seems really happy with the massive world building he’s doing now.

This should answer some questions from fans who might be wondering about what Snyder thinks of all the changes that are happening in the DCU franchise. It is also great to hear that Snyder is throwing his support for Gunn, who he is also friends with and have worked together before in the Dawn of the Dead remake.

As Gunn also iterated, it sounds like we won't be seeing Snyder return to the DC franchise anytime soon since he is busy with his own personal projects on Netflix. For now, we can just look forward to what they have in store for the new DCU franchise in the coming years.
