James Gunn Continues Teasing John Cena's The Suicide Squad Character

It's no secret that people are already hyped up for The Suicide Squad considering that it boasts of an impressive cast and the creative mind of James Gunn. However, so much of the upcoming DC Extended Universe flick is still a mystery. For instance, fans can't help but continue guessing John Cena's role in the movie. Interestingly, Gunn also continues to tease on the mysterious character.

A fan recently tweeted about the possible DC comic book characters that Cena will play in The Suicide Squad. The list included Bane, Black Spider, Copperhead, Deathstroke, KGBeast, and Solomon Grundy. Not surprisingly, it didn't take long before Gunn found the tweet and gave a coy response.

"A little late for the suggestions considering we finished filming in February, but thanks nonetheless & you‘re gonna freak out on how amazing @JohnCena is in #TheSuicideSquad as the character he does play..." Gunn wrote.

That doesn't exactly help us guess but it's clear that Gunn wants fans to look forward to Cena's upcoming role. Hopefully, we'll get a better hint once the promotions for The Suicide Squad finally begins. This could happen soon and there are speculations that the first teaser or trailer for the movie will finally be dropped before the end of the year.

The Suicide Squad has already completed photography and is currently in post-production although progress is slow due to COVID-19. The film is scheduled for release on August 6, 2021.
