James Gunn Confirms Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will Resolve First Film's Storylines

We already know that it's going to be a long wait for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 but James Gunn has given us another reason to look forward to the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe flick. The Suicide Squad director confirmed that the third movie will resolve some storylines that started with the first film.

Gunn recently held a Q&A on Instagram where he answered several fan questions. One fan asked the filmmaker if Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the last one in the franchise or if he still has plans to do more GOTG movies. Interestingly, Gunn revealed that some storylines will finally be resolved.

"If everything goes to plan it will wrap up the stories I started in Guardians 1," Gunn said.

We have mixed feelings about this considering that it sounds like there won't be another Guardians film after Vol. 3. On the other hand, it's good to know that some mysteries could finally be solved. For instance, we could learn Rocket Raccoon's origins or find out what really happened to Drax's family. Better yet, we could see more of Howard the Duck and Cosmo the Spacedog (personally, this is all that matters to me).

Gunn is currently working on The Suicide Squad and is expected to wrap up production later this year. He will then begin work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 by 2021.
