James Gunn has been busy prepping for the production of the first DCU film Superman: Legacy which is set to begin next year. We also learned recently who he cast to play the main roles of Clark Kent and Lois Lane in the film.

Since the film will be a brand new take on Superman as evidenced by the recasting of Henry Cavill and the hiring of a younger actor to play the role, fans have been wondering about how old will the character be in the new movie.

Now, after months of debate and speculations online regarding how young Clark Kent will be in the movie, we finally have the answer from Gunn himself.

As reported by The Direct, a fan recently asked Gunn on BlueSky about what Clark Kent/Superman's age will be in Superman: Legacy since the role has been recast to a younger actor than Henry Cavill.

The DC Studios co-chairman confirmed that the character's age will be the same as David Corenswet, who he cast to play the role in the DCU reboot.

In case you don't know, the actor is set to turn 30 years old this July 8 which will also be his age once production starts early next year. By the time the movie releases in 2025, he will be 32 years old.

Prior to this, there were reports that suggested that Gunn was eyeing for Clark Kent to be as young as 25 years old. Now, it looks like he decided to match the actor's age and not make him act younger than he is.

If Gunn also decided to make the same case for the new Lois Lane actress Rachel Brosnahan, it would mean that the character will be around 33 years old in the film (her birthday is on July 12) and a couple of years older than the Man of Steel.

There is no doubt that this is in alignment with Gunn's plans for many months that the character will be much younger than Henry Cavill was when he last played the character and this could also set the tone for the casting of the other heroes in the DCU.

It would be interesting to see whether Clark's age will actually factor into the story of the film or if it's just part of the character's background regardless.
