James Bond 25: Baby Driver Director Edgar Wright Might Take Over For Danny Boyle

It's a mad dash to find a new director for James Bond 25 but it looks like the producers of the upcoming spy film already have their eye on a gifted filmmaker. A new report reveals that Baby Driver director Edgar Wright is being considered to take over after Danny Boyle's departure.

Fans have been concerned that Bond 25 would need to be moved to a later release date when Boyle stepped down from the project. However, sources have revealed to Deadline that the producers are planning to keep the 2019 release as long as they could find a new director in the next two months. In fact, they already have a shortlist of possible replacements headed by Wright himself.

Wright is certainly an interesting choice. We already know he is highly capable of helming a hard action film and the filmmaker could also want to inject some of his trademark humor into Bond 25. Wright has already admitted he would love to direct a 007 film so this could be a strange but comfortable fit.

Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are also eyeing Jean-Marc Vallee (Dallas Buyers Club, Little Big Lies), David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water, Outlaw King), and Yann Demange ('71, White Boy Rick).

Boyle's exit was announced to be due to creative differences. Interestingly, a source has previously shared that the 28 Days Later director disagreed with lead star Daniel Craig on the casting of the film's villain.

James Bond 25 is still scheduled for release on November 8, 2019.
