James Bond 25: Danny Boyle Reportedly Left Film Because Of Daniel Craig

Fans are still reeling after it was announced that Danny Boyle has left James Bond 25 due to "creative differences." Interestingly, the Slumdog Millionaire director may have exited the project because of a disagreement with star Daniel Craig.

Boyle had only signed on to James Bond 25 in March this year. However, it was recently confirmed that the filmmaker would no longer be a part of the spy movie. The announcement was made by producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. The tweet also included Craig's name.

The whole "creative differences" excuse has been used so many times in the history of cinema. However, a new report by The Telegraph has new details revealing that Boyle and Craig clashed over the director's choice for the new James Bond villain.

According to the report, Boyle was pushing to cast Polish actor Tomasz Kot as Bond's new enemy in the film. However, Craig was reportedly opposed to bringing the Cold War star in the movie. The source revealed that the current 007 "has a big say in all the casting decisions."

"None of the Bond girls have been chosen without [Craig's] say so," the source said. "For example, he chose Eva Green to be the Bond girl when it came to the final four for Casino Royale and that has been the case for all the Bond girls he has worked with."

The source also shared that Boyle was agreeable about bringing a "[modern-day] Cold War element" to Bond 25 so that couldn't be the so-called "creative differences" that was announced.

"That wasn't the problem. The problem came in when they were making the final decisions about casting pre-production," the source stated.

Boyle's departure truly is a major loss for James Bond 25. Nevertheless, it looks like the producers have chosen to please their lead star, who might be reprising his role as 007 for the last time. Hopefully, a new director will be announced later this year.

James Bond 25 is scheduled for release on November 8, 2019.
