Jacob's Ladder Remake Still Set For 2019 Release

2019 is turning out to be the year of reboots. It has just been confirmed that David M. Rosenthal's remake of the 1990 psychological horror Jacob's Ladder is still happening and it could get a new release date next year.

According to Bloody Disgusting, the new film based on the Adrian Lyne classic is originally slated for release in February 2019. The LD Entertainment remake is still moving forward but is set to have a new premiere date. Although the new date has not yet been confirmed, there is a possibility that the reboot could be moved to a summer release.

Jacob's Ladder is celebrated as one of the most underrated horror films in cinematic history. The film was even nominated for Best Horror Film at the 1991 Horror Hall of Fame but lost out to Silence of the Lambs. Although a remake might be unnecessary, the idea of updating the story with current events could be intriguing. I wouldn't mind seeing how Rosenthal intends to deal with Jacob's terrifying hallucinations in this one.

The Jacob's Ladder remake will star Michael Ealy (Underworld: Awakening), Jesse Williams (Grey's Anatomy), Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow), and Karla Souza (How to Get Away with Murder). Ray Donovan actor Guy Burnet has also been confirmed to play Hoffman, "a pharmacist at the Veteran's Administration described as 'smart, but chaotic' who supplies Jacob with prescriptions."

Watch out for more updates on the Jacob's Ladder remake release date.
