Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Film Could Begin Production In Budapest In March 2019

Denis Villeneuve is not taking any chances with the highly anticipated Dune remake and is slowly easing into the task. The film is expected to begin production in Budapest, Hungary early next year.

According to Omega Underground, the project has previously been reported to start filming in February 2019. However, the tentative production date has been moved back to March, perhaps to allow Villeneuve some time to make some final adjustments to the screenplay. The remake will be shot in Budapest.

The slight delay in production might be frustrating for fans who are eager to see the story come alive. However, we're willing to wait for another year so Villeneuve can make everything perfect. Well, at least bring the remake close to perfection.

Although Villeneuve hasn't been giving any updates on the movie, Brian Herbert seems happy with the development of the screenplay. The Dune author recently tweeted about the latest draft and revealed that he and co-author Kevin J. Anderson have given it their seal of approval.

Villeneuve has previously confirmed that he will be splitting the project into two films. Herbert also revealed that the first movie will cover the first half of the book, which means it could focus on Paul Atreides' parents.

Timothee Chalament (Call Me By Your Name) has been cast as Paul Atreides in the Dune remake. There are no updates yet on who will be cast to portray Duke Leto Atreides and Lady Jessica. Hopefully, there will be more casting news later this year.
