Is The Darkling Still Alive in Shadow and Bone Season 2?
Alina finally eliminated the Shadow Fold in Shadow and Bone Season 2 and in the process of it comes the demise of the Darkling. Yes, it is confirmed, Kirigan is actually dead this time. There is nothing like the end of Shadow and Bone Season 1 this time.
Alina kills off Kirigan with the use of the Neshyenyer blade, the same one that can kill the nichevo'ya of Kirigan. Despite Kirigan pleading to Alina to keep him alive, be her monster, and be the one to protect her because only he could understand her, Alina didn't listen to him.
Alina finishes the job once and for all by killing the Darkling. His blood is black and he tells Alina to dispose of him and make sure nothing of him gets left. Alina still makes the dying wish of Kirigan come true: they burned him at the heart of the now-destroyed Shadow Fold.

Despite the Darkling dying in Shadow and Bone Season 2, a new threat wreaks havoc in Ravka as a Fjerdan woman who had taken a drug called "jurda parem," attacked the coronation of Nikolai as the king of Ravka.
Speaking of the king, however, it was also teased that some remnants of the Darkling managed to latch on someone else -- Nikolai Lantsov. When fighting against a nichevo'ya of Kirigan, Nikolai was stabbed on his shoulder blade and it seems that some part of the darkness remained in his festering wound.
Nikolai is expected to be a huge part of the next season if the show will be renewed for another run on Netflix. What happened to Nikolai is a hint that the next narrative could be the book of Leigh Bardugo, King of Scars.
