From the pages of Leigh Bardugo's novels comes a Netflix series that took everyone into a whole new world in Shadow and Bone and it brings us who the Grishas are, beings who are given special gifts or abilities.

The first season brought to the screens Shadow and Bone and the upcoming second season will be featuring Siege and Storm.

It follows Alina, a cartographer of the First Army and she is an orphan who never wanted to have abilities however, when she found out that she is a Grisha, she discovered something more, she is a legend personified being the Sun Summoner.

The legend personified, the only being to ever be the Sun Summoner, is finally coming back in Shadow and Bone Season 2 and she returns with Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, she will be facing the impending darkness that the Darkling has looming.

Jessie Mei Li previously appeared in theater on All About Eve where she acted alongside Lily James and Gillian Anderson. She also played Lara Chung in Last Night in Soho.

Now that the true identity of General Aleksander Kirigan is revealed to be The Darkling, the very being responsible for the darkness that separates the nations called "The Fold." Ben Barnes is expected to return with his sinister role as it was revealed that he is still alive in the end of Season 1.

Ben Barnes has been under many titles including The Chronicles of Narnia, Westworld, The Punisher, Stardust, Dorian Gray, Killing Bono, The Big Wedding, The Seventh Son, Sons of Liberty, and Gold Digger among many others.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 Character Guide: Archie Renaux as Malyen "Mal" Oretsev

Loyal to Alina being her best friend from when they were still children, Mal is a tracker of the First Army but given that Alina is now the Sun Summoner, Mal remains to be a reliable ally of the lead character, and he is played by Archie Renaux.

Archie Renaux is best known for his roles in Voyagers, Catherine Called Birdy, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, and Morbius. He also starred alongside Ben Barnes in Gold Digger before Shadow and Bone.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 Character Guide: Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker

Also known as the Bastard of the Barrel or Dirtyhands, Kaz Brekker is the leader of the Crows, the Dregs in the Netflix series, and they are being hired to do things the others can't such as kidnap a person or other bad stuff.

Kaz is played by Freddy Carter, known for his role in the Free Rein series and movies. He also appeared briefly on Wonder Woman and The Convent.

Inej is immensely skilled in combat but nothing can prepare anyone to the monsters within the Fold. Amita Suman is Inej Gahafa, a member of the Crows/ Dregs, who is also going by the name Wraith. Suman is known for her role as Naya in The Outpost, and most recently, Nora in The Sandman.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 Character Guide: Kit Young as Jesper Fahey

The sharpshooter of the group, give Jesper anything to target and he will get it on the bull's eye! Another member of the Crows/ Dregs, Jesper Fahey is played by Kit Young, who appeared on The School for Good and Evil recently.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 Character Guide: Danielle Galligan as Nina Zenik

Not everyone who has an ability could actually produce something, sometimes, what they do is on the inside, just like Nina Zenik who is a Heartrender. She was taken captive by Fjerdans but later fell in love with a Fjerdan Druskelle, one of her captors.

Danielle Galligan is coming back to Shadow and Bone Season 2 as Nina Zenik. Galligan appeared on various short films and some roles in series before landing on Shadow and Bone.

Reading what has been written just above, Nina Zenik fell in love with a Fjerdan Druskelle, right? Well, it is Matthias Helvar played by Calahan Skogman who appeared on various short films before Shadow and Bone.

Not everyone without powers are useless, sometimes, they are those which support the others who has powers but are afraid to use it. As for Genya, she is the tailor of Alina and she became a loyal friend to her and she is played by Daisy Head, from The Syndicate, Guilt, and Harlots.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 New Character: Lewis Tan as Tolya Yul-Bataar

In the books, Tolya is a Heartrender who is with the Sturmhond pirates. Lewis Tan will play Tolya-Bataar and he is best known for his roles in Mortal Kombat, Into the Badlands, Iron Fist, Bling Empire, Deadpool 2, and Wu Assassins.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 New Character: Anna Leong Brophy as Tamar Kir-Bataar

The sibling of Tolya and an ex-member of the pirate group, Tamar Kir-Bataar is played by Anna Leon Brophy who appeared previously on Code 404, Traces, Last Tango in Halifax, EastEnders, Berlin Station, The Diana Clone, and more.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 New Character: Patrick Gibson as Nikolai Lantsov

Remember the Bataar siblings working for a pirate crew, well, Nikolai Lantsov is the leader of the group who assumed the name of Sturmhond and they help the kingdom of Ravka in the war so they are allies of Alina and Mal in the upcoming Shadow and Bone Season 2.

Playing Nikolai Lantsov is Patrick Gibson who is best known for his appearances in The Darkest Minds, Tolkien, The Tudors, The Passing Bells, and The OA.

Shadow and Bone Season 2 New Character: Jack Wolfe as Wylan Hendricks

In the book, his name is Wylan Van Eck but it was changed into Hendricks for Shadow and Bone Season 2. He becomes to demolitions expert of the Crows/ Dregs while inside the Fjerdan military stronghold, the Ice Court. Jack Wolfe plays Wylan and he is known for his role in The Magic Flute.
