Today, video games are entering another side of entertainment as adaptations of it, may it be movies or series, are now taking up the scenes. Now, it's a classic that will be going to the screens as Tetris arrives on AppleTV+ but is it based on a true story, though?
Is Tetris Based On A True Story?
AppleTV+ will be bringing in Taron Egerton is a period piece like no other with the story of how Tetris became one of the most iconic games of all time, its story, that even now, it is played by different ages and generations.
Blocks of different shapes and colors to form rows and clear it without reaching the top most portion of the screen, Tetris definitely made its name being one of the most iconic games of all time, but not everyone knows how it came about, how it was made.
Tetris is based on a true story of how Tetris became Tetris. The movie stars Taron Egerton and will tell the story of Henk Rogers, the video game designer who made sure that the game will be known to all, even to this day.

Tetris will follow Henk who teams up with Alexey Pajitnov, a Soviet software engineer, who made the design of the game and thereafter, they found The Tetris Company. They battled it out, even in court, to secure the distribution rights of everything about Tetris.
Speaking with Digital Spy, Taron Egerton teases what Tetris has in store for everyone waiting for the movie, "It's an extraordinary story involving lots of different factions from all over the world, all pursuing this incredibly property."
Egerton added, "Tetris is a cultural zeitgeist and it's quite exciting to think that the backstory to this phenomenon will finally get its moment in the sunlight."
In the same interview, the daughter of Henk Rogers and current CEO of The Tetris Company, Maya Rogers, revealed the efforts of her father for the game, "My dad put everything on the line to chase after this game. Most people have no idea the drama the game went through for it to spread to the rest of the world."
It is, indeed, about time for the whole world to know about how Tetris became one of the most iconic games of all time and everything that the people behind it endured throughout the creation of it -- a story that needs telling.
Tetris comes out on AppleTV+ on March 31, 2023.
