Video games are getting adaptations and these continue to improve over time. It's a great material to base on especially the games with story lines. Now, it's time for an iconic game to be brought into a movie and this time, everyone will know how Tetris started.
Publishing a video game is not as easy as an idea. It requires a lot of effort and these, too, should be given a spotlight. Tetris will be bringing to life where the stacks of blocks all started and the struggles that its creators would have to go through before it became the iconic game of today.
Tetris Release Date: When Will the Movie Come Out?
Everyone would not have to wait too long as Tetris is slated for a March 31, 2023 release on Apple TV+ where the story of how the iconic game was brought to life and how extreme the lengths one had to go through for everyone to enjoy the game as we know it today.
For those who are fortunate enough to be at the SXSW Film Festival, the world premiere of Tetris will be happening at the event on March 15, 2023 before it goes up on Apple TV+ on the 31st.
Tetris Cast: Who are the Actors Included in the Movie?
A star-studded cast banners Tetris with Taron Egerton as Henk Rogers, the brains behind the Tetris game who is a Dutch video game designer and is the one who holds the license to the trademark of the game, the instrumental man behind bringing Tetris to the Game Boy.
Joining Egerton are Toby Jones as Robert Stein, Nikita Yefremov as Alexey Pajitnov, Roger Allam as Robert Maxwell, Anthony Boyle as Kevin Maxwell, Togo Igawa as Hiroshi Yamauci, and Ken Yamamura as Minoru Arakawa.
Also included in the cast of Tetris are Ben Miles as Howard Lincoln, Ayane Nagabuchi as Akemi Rogers, Matthew March as Mikhail Gorbachev, and Rick Yune as Larry.

Tetris Crew: Who are the Creative Minds Behind the Scenes?
The upcoming biographical drama film Tetris has Jon S. Baird on the director's seat with Noah Punk as the scribe of the movie. The cinematographer is Alwin H. Kuchler, editors are Martin Walsh, Colin Goudie, and Ben Mills, and music by Lorne Balfe.
The producers of Tetris are Matthew Vaughn, Gillian Berrie, Claudia Vaughn, Leonard Blavatnik, and Gregor Cameron. It is produced under Apple Original Films, Marv Studios, and AI Film, thus, Apple TV+ getting the rights to distribute internationally.
Tetris was first revealed to be under development in July 2020 when it was reported that a biopic about the creation of the game which would be heavily focusing on the legal battles on the ownership of the game during the Cold War.
August 2020 marks the confirmation of Taron Egerton that he has been tapped in a film which is similar to The Social Network, and in November of the same year, the movie landed on Apple TV + for distribution.
Tetris started filming in Glasgow the following month and in 2021, they transferred to Aberdeen. The film called it a wrap in March 2021 and it was supposed to release in late 2022 after the reshoots of the movie in the same year, but it was pushed back for an early 2023 release.

Tetris Plot: What Will be the Plot of the Movie?
The official synopsis of Tetris is as follows:
"“Tetris” tells the unbelievable story of how one of the world's most popular video games found its way to avid players around the globe. Henk Rogers (Taron Egerton) discovers TETRIS in 1988, and then risks everything by traveling to the Soviet Union, where he joins forces with inventor Alexey Pajitnov (Nikita Efremov) to bring the game to the masses. Based on a true story, “Tetris” is a Cold War–era thriller on steroids, with double-crossing villains, unlikely heroes and a nail-biting race to the finish."
Ask anyone about a classic video game and Tetris will always be one of the answers. It has been in the industry for decades, loved by different generations, and it continues to live its legacy, especially now that it will be having its origins to life in a movie.
Based on a true story, Tetris will focus on the creation of the game in 1988 by Henk Rogers who went to the Soviet Union and teamed up with inventor Alexey Pajitnov to bring the game to life and once it was ready, to the public.
The stakes are high because a legal battle followed the creation of the game between Nintendo and Atari Games in a San Francisco court over who really owns the trademark to the game. These are two rival companies and eventually, Rogers and Nintendo won the case.
Where to Watch Tetris?
Tetris is produced by Apple Original Films with Marv Studios and AI Film, thus, scoring a slot on the slate of the releases of Apple TV+ where the movie will be available on March 31, 2023.
The movie, Tetris, will also be available early on for those who will be attending the SXSW Film Conference where it will have its world premiere on March 15, 2023.
A subscription on Apple TV+ opens the doors to the subscribers to the rich roster of movies and series on the streaming platform which one could avail for free during its 7-day trial, then it costs $6.99 per month.
