Is Nimona Human? What Is She?

No, Nimona is not human in the movie. She is a very unique character with shapeshifting abilities that allow her to turn into anything or anyone she wants to.

Many see her as a monster, but Nimona hates it whenever someone calls her like that to her face.

It pains Nimona that all the citizens of the kingdom treat her like a monster, even though she only wants to peacefully coexist and spend time with them.

Bear in mind that Nimona never identified herself as a monster, so we will leave it like that.

She is an eponymous shapeshifting character who has an incredibly mischievous, playful, aggressive, and impulsive demeanor.

It is unknown how old Nimona is, but the Nimona fandom mentions that she is seemingly over 1,000 years old.

Funny, Ballister calling Nimona a young 10-year-old girl in the movie is actually a compliment about her youthful appearance.

In the movie, Nimona appears before Ballister and attempts to become his sidekick by doing villainous stuff.

But when she discovered that Ballister was not actually a villain, she decided to help him clear his name.

Both the webcomic and the movie didn’t explain Nimona’s origins.

ND Stevenson, Nimona’s author, even confirmed that there’s no true origin story for the titular character, and it’s up to the readers to decide what they think it is.

The movie, on the other hand, sheds some light on Nimona’s past a thousand years ago, before Ballister’s chaotic knighting ceremony.

It all started with Nimona trying to find a place to belong in the world. She wanders from one place to another, trying to fit in with either the birds, the fishes, or even the antlers by shapeshifting.

Still, Nimona didn’t feel like she belonged with them.

One day, Nimona discovers a young girl playing by herself near a well. This girl is Gloreth, who became Nimona’s first friend. They spent a lot of time together, playing with each other every day.

At some point, Gloreth also found out about Nimona’s shapeshifting abilities, but she decided to accept her friend instead of avoiding her.

Unfortunately, Nimona’s friendship with Gloreth came to an end after the rest of the citizens discovered her abilities.

Sadly, Gloreth also rejected Nimona after everything that happened, and the rest is history.
