What Is the Story of Nimona?
Nimona is an eponymous shapeshifting character who stars alongside the disgraced knight, Ballister Boldheart, in both the movie and the webcomic.
The 2023 movie is set in a futuristic kingdom with medieval influences as knights protect the citizens from all kinds of danger, including monsters, under the Queen’s rule.
It all started with the legendary heroine named Gloreth, who enclosed the kingdom within a high wall after preventing the monsters from disturbing the peace.
Then, Gloreth decreed that her descendants would protect the kingdom for generations to come to ensure the safety of the citizens.
A thousand years later, a street kid with the impossible dream of being a knight appears. That is none other than Ballister, who graduated at the top of the institute’s class.
Many criticize Ballister’s knighting ceremony because he is a commoner, but the Queen believes that he has the heart of a hero.
In a sudden turn of events, Ballister’s knighting ceremony turned sour, and the kingdom changed for good. This includes Ballister’s relationship with his then-boyfriend, Ambrosius Goldenloin.
That’s when Ballister encounters Nimona, a mischievous girl who wants to become his sidekick in the process of clearing his name.
