McDonald’s latest marketing stint delighted anime fans after a mysterious limited-time anime event was teased on its official X account. The fast-food giant has collaborated with Pierrot, the studio behind Naruto and Bleach, but is the new McDonald’s anime isekai?

McDonald’s Announces Collaboration with Studio Pierrot
On February 21, 2024, McDonald’s surprised its followers with a mysterious anime teaser in collaboration with Pierrot.
The teaser promotes a limited-time anime event at participating McDonald’s food chains starting February 26, 2024.
This isn’t the first time McDonald's has integrated anime into its marketing campaigns.
In fact, McDonald’s Japan produced a limited “late night” short anime ad series back in 2023 with the Japanese artist Uraura Ura-chan.
In December 2022, McDonald’s Japan also collaborated with Tetsuo Hara, co-creator of Fist of the North Star, for an animated promo of a limited-time menu item called the Samurai Mac.
McDonald’s US also featured the comedy and fantasy anime The Devil is a Part-Timer! in one of its promotional videos, much to the surprise of not only the Japanese manga illustrator 029 (Oniku) but also its customers.
Currently, McDonald’s and Pierrot have yet to provide more details about their collaboration; whether they will release a short anime ad series, a special one-episode anime, or a full-length anime series.
Is the New McDonald’s Anime Isekai? Rumors and Predictions
Many are speculating that the new McDonald’s anime will be an isekai due to the events shown in the promotional teaser.
The teaser also mentions that a new world will emerge, which could suggest that the limited-time anime event will have an isekai world as a setting.
The characters also look like they have different powers and abilities, based on the action-packed teaser.
If so, anime fans will have a lot to expect from this new collaboration. Has there been an isekai anime where the isekai’d characters get to eat McDonald’s in the isekai world?
Understandably, isekai is an anime genre that continues to make waves not only in Japan but throughout the world.
Still, nothing has been confirmed for now, which means the new McDonald’s anime could be an ordinary action and fantasy anime and not an isekai.
When Will the New McDonald’s Anime Be Released?
As explained above, the new McDonald’s limited-time anime will be released on February 26, 2024.
