A few days ago, a fan sent a tweet to James Gunn asking him if he will work with Margot Robbie again. Gunn kept his answer short and simple:

"For sure."

The tweet was referring to Gunn's soft reboot of the 2021 The Suicide Squad, which was the last time Robbie played Harley Quinn. The Australian actress also played the role in two earlier movies: Suicide Squad (2016) directed by David Ayer and Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) directed by Cathy Yan.

Before you celebrate, however, there is one thing that needs to be clarified: the Twitter user did not directly specify if James Gunn will be working with Margot Robbie in a future DC movie. She simply asked if he is open to working with the actress in the future.

Gunn failed to elaborate his answer by being vague. But still, avid fans can't help but hope that Robbie could return to reprise her role as Harley Quinn in Gunn's DCU reset.

Earlier this month, the director confirmed reports that he will direct a new Superman film. The script for the movie, entitled Superman: Legacy, will also be written by Gunn.

The movie is expected to be released on July 11, 2025, which is still a long way to go. But it will also be the first major project from the DCU that Gunn and Peter Safran are behind since their CEO appointment at DC Studios.

Gunn says that Superman: Legacy will have a younger version of Superman but an actor has not yet been revealed.
