Laios’ party finally managed to defeat the Red Dragon, though they discovered that Falin had already been eaten.

Thus, Marcille said that they must try and resurrect her right there instead of bringing her out of the dungeon.

Marcille revealed that she is secretly a practitioner of ancient or black magic. With this, she was able to revive Falin through dark arts, which unnerved Chilchuck.

Even though they had to resort to black magic, Marcille successfully revived Falin with seemingly no issues. Of course, it’s curious that Falin now has enhanced magical abilities.

Given her use of black magic, Chilchuck asked if Marcille was a dark elf, to which Marcille was offended.

Delicious in Dungeon is set in a fantasy world with a lot of races, ranging from humans, elves, dwarves, and half-foots, among many others.

Specific details about these races haven’t been explored much in the anime yet, though Chilchuck mentioning dark elves got a lot of fans curious.

In other fantasy series, dark elves are typically darker-skinned variants of elves that specialize in fire or dark magic. In Delicious in Dungeon though, dark elves are different.

Series creator Ryoko Kui has explained what dark elves are in a comic and the series’ world guide. Instead of being used to refer to skin color, dark elves in the series are sort of a legend among humans.

Dark elves are believed to be elves who practice dark arts, meaning they’re not a different race. This means dark-skinned elves in the series are not dark elves.
