Oshi no Ko finally premiered yesterday, and it was not what many fans expected. In fact, anime fans online when into a meltdown following the shocking events of the Oshi no Ko premiere.
Because the manga that it’s based on is written by Kaguya-sama creator Aka Akasaka, many expected this to be another fun time. Though that isn’t the case as this new anime is anything but light.

Oshi no Ko Episode 1 Ending Leaves Fans in Shock
The first episode starts with the main character meeting Ai Hoshino, but things soon go south as he’s killed. Though he gets reincarnated instead as the son of his idol, Ai Hoshino.
After this, the story becomes quite fun as it shows Ai Hoshino’s twins as young kids, though there is some tension bubbling underneath.
At the end of the episode, this tension takes over as the show becomes a full-blown thriller, with Ai Hoshino getting brutally murdered in front of her son.
Given that Ai Hoshino was used to promote the show, many anime-only viewers were in serious shock following the events. Pretty much no one expected things to go this brutally in just the first episode.
Because of the surprising turn of events, Oshi no Ko quickly trended on Twitter, and it may be poised to be one of this season’s biggest hits.
Plus, the show got rave reviews on MyAnimeList as it topped the all-time ranking.

Manga Fans Are Elated With the Anime’s Incredible Adaptation
Even before the anime aired, there were already many Oshi no Ko manga readers, thanks in part to it being available on Manga Plus. It also helps that writer Aka Akasaka has gained a big following thanks to Kaguya-sama: Love Is War.
Given the manga’s popularity, many were excited to see it turned into an anime.
Now that the first episode has aired, fans expressed how happy they are with the quality of the adaptation.
A lot of praise has been given to Mengo Yokoyari’s illustrations in the manga, and fans are glad that the anime did justice to her art.
There were even fans who think that the anime went above and beyond the source material at some points.
Thanks to the huge reaction to the first episode, lots of anime fans are now eagerly anticipating the second Oshi no Ko episode which will be released next week.
