The latest chapter of the Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK) manga has raised interest in Atsuya Kusakabe, a Grade 1 sorcerer from Kyoto. So, how strong is Kusakabe, and what is his cursed technique?

What Is Kusakabe's Cursed Technique?
Kusakabe's cursed technique essentially involves techniques that work against the opponent's domain:
- New Shadow Style: Simple Domain allows Kusakabe to neutralize cursed techniques in a set area around him.
- Batto Sword Drawing is a speed-based technique that coats the blade in cursed energy and allows it to slice infinitely faster than a sword normally would.
Moreover, Kusakabe's technique includes a variation of the above known as Evening Moon Sword Drawing, the full potential of which remains unknown because he was unable to use it without interruption.
However, his current battle with Sukuna could change this.
How Strong Is Kusakabe Compared to Other JJK Characters?
As a Grade 1 sorcerer, Kusakabe is extremely strong. In chapter 253 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, many characters admit that they believe him to be among the strongest of the Grade 1 class.
This means that Kusakabe's powers are on par with the likes of Aoi Todo (pre-Shibuya) and Kento Nanami.
Of course, since a Special Grade also exists, he's not as strong as Satoru Gojo or Yuta Okkotsu.
This also means that he's now fighting an unequal battle with Sukuna, and he only stands a chance because every sorcerer is trying to pull their weight into this fight at this point.
Fans are excited to see more of Atsuya Kusakabe's potential. Reported leaks and raw scans for chapter 254 of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga feature him jumping into the fight against Sukuna, after Maki Zenin.
Without spoiling too much, it seems that Kusakabe is getting seriously hurt. Hopefully, he'll be able to create an opening that will help tip the outcome in the sorcerer's favor.
