How Did Cyclops Get Brought Back From The Dead?

Ever since his dramatic death in Death of X, fans have been wanting to see Cyclops return to the land of the living. Many felt that his death was unjustified, though the death itself was really strong and praised by many. When it was revealed that Scott would be back and leading the X-Men again in Uncanny X-Men #11, many fans asked the most natural question; How?

That is answered in this week's Uncanny X-Men Annual #1 and, as expected, it's convoluted. Seriously, there's time travel, cosmic energy, The Phoenix, and everything else an X-Men fan can look forward to. Seriously, trying to follow X-Men continuity is like being a Kingdom Hearts fan; no one understands why you like this stuff, aside from fellow fans.

Kid Cable convinces a scientist that Cyclops saved a long time ago to make a device that can absorb the energy of the Phoenix Force and release it in the right moment to revive his father. The device uses technology from something Tony Stark developed in Avengers vs X-Men that almost trapped the Phoenix, which Kid Cable obtains via time travel (of course).

After that, they travel back in time to put the pill-sized device on Cyclops in that Phoenix Resurrection moment where he is brought back to life and killed immediately. This time, the device absorbs some of the Phoenix energy used to revive him briefly and brings Scott Summers back from the dead in a specific time period.

X-Men comics amiright?

Now that Cyclops is back, he has abandoned his rebellious red costume and is now using his more heroic Astonishing X-Men outfit. This will soon be abandoned for his ‘90s outfit, which no one will complain about.

Uncanny X-Men Annual #1 is available now.
