Romance anime fans will have something new to look forward to. That’s because the popular Honey Lemon Soda manga is getting an anime, and here are the latest release date news and predictions.
This new anime was announced recently by Wright Film, and its reveal came with the release of a teaser visual. Along with this, the anime’s official X (formerly Twitter) account and website have also opened.
There’s not a lot of info about the anime so far, but its studio and key staff members have been revealed.
Which Studio Is Animating Honey Lemon Soda?
Honey Lemon Soda is a romance manga by Mayu Murata that began serialization in Shueisha’s Ribon magazine back in December 2015.
Since then, the manga has become a big hit in Japan, to the point that it has gotten over 10 million copies in circulation. Thus, it’s no surprise that an anime adaptation was ordered.
In charge of production is J.C.Staff, the anime studio behind lots of hit titles like Food Wars!, DanMachi, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., and One-Punch Man seasons 2 and 3.
Directing the show is Hiroshi Nishikiori, an anime industry veteran who has directed shows like Azumanga Daioh and A Certain Magical Index.
Honey Lemon Soda Anime Gets Teaser Visual and Special Illustration
Similar to most new anime announcements, the Honey Lemon Soda adaptation wasn’t revealed with a trailer.
Instead, a teaser visual was released, which features the two main characters Uka Ishimori and Kai Miura.
The visual may not reveal much, but it does show that the anime will have a distinct art style compared to the source material.
To celebrate the announcement, the series’ author shared an illustration of Uka and Kai in the manga’s signature style. This was shared alongside a short message from Murata.
Murata said “My heart is full of joy and gratitude” regarding the anime adaptation, and that she’ll continue to work hard on the manga.

Honey Lemon Soda Anime Release Date News and Predictions
As there’s no trailer for the anime yet, chances are that the show is still early into its production. Thus, the Honey Lemon Soda anime likely won’t be released soon.
At the earliest, the show will likely premiere in fall 2024, though a 2025 release date is more likely, as anime production takes a fairly long time.
Romance anime fans who can’t wait for the anime have the option of reading the manga. That’s because Yen Press began publishing the manga in English in January 2023.
