I have to hand it to this film. Though I wasn't onboard with a reboot at first, they've done some amazing work with David Harbour as Hellboy. The first poster for the film was fantastic, and now we have Hellboy looking ominous with his horns fully grown. Even the tagline is better (at least better than the first poster's which was literally ‘Legendary AF').

The movie was originally supposed to be called Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, but the studio opted to just keep it a simple Hellboy—most likely to show audiences that this was a full reboot and not a continuation of the movies by Guillermo del Toro.

Though a lot of fans were insistent that Lionsgate should have finished the trilogy that del Toro started, I think they're pretty confident with what they have made with this film. Harbour looks the part, and he's way younger than Ron Perlman, allowing for a good solid run at the franchise for a couple of years.

On the bright side, if this film fails, I'm sure Lionsgate will now consider finishing the del Toro trilogy, now that the fans have made their voices heard.

Catch Hellboy in theaters April 12, 2019.
