Ron Perlman might have been heartbroken that Millennium chose to reboot the Hellboyfranchise with a new director and a new star in the picture, but it seems like the original Hellboy star has finally learned to move on from the heartache of being left out of the new project.
Speaking in an interview with Aint It Cool about Millennium's upcoming Hellboy reboot starring Stranger Things actor David Harbour as Millennium's new Unwilling Harbinger of the Apocalypse, Perlman claims that he has finally made peace with the fact that his time together with director Guillermo Del Torro was left at two Hellboy movies despite the efforts that the team made to have a third film on the way.
"Well I'm pretty much at peace with what we were able to accomplish with two films and I'm also very much at peace with we put up as noble a fight as we could to complete the trilogy," Perlman said. "But it wasn't to be. I have completely moved on and what happens in the future in regard to that title is really none of my business."
This is a pretty big leap from Perlman's previous proclamations saying that the reboot was something of an "open wound" and shows just how far the actor has come along to accepting the fact that Neil Marshall is now in charge of the reboot with Harbour as its lead star.
Fans also reacted pretty much the same way when they heard the news that Millennium was excluding Del Torro and Perlman for its project, opting instead to work with Marshall and Harbour. While the Hellboyfanbase was pretty much angry at first, they started warming up to the reboot after seeing how great Harbour looked as the Harbinger of the Apocalypse. It also helped that Marshall was going for a comic book-accurate version for his reboot.
