With the show down to its final stretch, Heavenly Delusion Episode 11 finally sheds light on the origins of the Hiruko aka the Man-Eaters which terrorize the folks living in post-apocalyptic Japan.

While the explanation is not definitive, it’s all but confirmed that the Hiruko that Kiruko and Maru face in their journey have a rather familiar origin.

Plus, the new episode also mostly confirms a popular fan theory, and it may have given an interesting insight into Maru’s origins.

Even early into Heavenly Delusion, there were already many fans who theorized that the anime’s two storylines exist in different timelines.

Specifically, it’s believed that the Heaven story featuring Tokio is set in the past.

Meanwhile, many think that Kiruko and Maru’s story is happening in the series’ present day. This was further supported by the ninth episode, which explains the symbol on Kiruko’s gun.

In the latest episode, Kiruko and Maru are finally near one of the main facilities of Takahara Academy.

And from the short glimpse we got, it seems that a lot of time has passed for the facility, indicating that the Heaven story is set in the past.

Further solidifying this theory is that the academy’s director was shown with a gun that seems to look a lot like Kiruko’s gun.

It’ll be interesting to see if that’s the same firearm or if it’s an older model.

Finally, Tokio is shown giving birth to twins. Given that Maru is searching for someone that looks like him, many fans now believe that Maru is one of the two twins and that he’s searching for his sibling.

Perhaps the biggest reveal of the episode is the origin of the Hiruko. At the end of the episode, the children in the facility are called the Hiruko and are set to undergo an exam.

One of the kids remarks that Hiruko feels like the right name for them. Couple this with the new kid, Ooma, who has a familiar ability, it looks like the Hiruko that roam the lands in the present-day are these kids.

Ooma is the most interesting one though, as her ability to cause hallucinations is similar to the Hiruko that Kiruko and Maru faced in a previous episode.

This strengthens the theory that the doctor and the patient from Episode 8 are Shiro and Mimihime, especially considering that Mimihime and Ooma have become close in this new episode.

We’ll have to wait until the next Heavenly Delusion episode to find out if these theories are true though.
