Thanks to the recently-released book Marvel Studios' The Marvel Cinematic Universe An Official Timeline, the first canon event in the MCU has been finally revealed: the Handiwork of Celestials.

As MCU fans know, the fictional universe has a rich and vast history across centuries and the new book sheds some light on the exact order of timeline from the creation of the universe to the Blip and beyond.

The Celestials played a huge part in the origins of the fictional universe. Not only because they are the oldest race, but they are also responsible for the Big Bang and bringing planets and lifeforms into their existence.

According to Marvel Studios The Marvel Cinematic Universe An Official Timeline (via The Direct), the Celestials are the ones who shaped the universe and are "one of the oldest and most powerful forms of life to ever exist."

They also perform several duties in their existence such as the use of their powers to "manipulate matter and energy to help construct suns."

However, the book didn't provide details on how the Celestials themselves were created or came into existence, but that could also just be the MCU version of the old-running question: "Which came first: chicken or egg?"

The book further explains the events that happened in the official MCU timeline following the Handiwork of Celestials.

The next event that occurred was the formation of Ego the Living Planet, Peter Quill's father and the villain in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 played by Kurt Russell. However, he was not born as a core planet and, instead, he was "just a spark of consciousness alone in deep space."

Soon after, the Big Bang happened which led to the creation of the infamous six Infinity Stones.

The planet Earth came into existence and, around the same time, the Yggdrasil was also created which is described as "an immense cosmic collection of nine worlds." Right after, Thor's homeworld Asgard was also formed.

That was the first part of the formation of the MCU's fictional universe as more moments occurred all the way to the events that we've witnessed in the films and TV shows that were released so far.
