Who Are the Tres Magia in Gushing Over Magical Girls?
The Tres Magia are a group of three magical girls fighting to protect the town and its people from the villainous organization called Enormita (Enormeeta).
These girls fight for love and justice, and people, especially high school girls, adore them for their cuteness and cool transformation scenes.
Even the main protagonist, Utena Hiiragi, loves and aspires to be like them if only she wasn’t coerced to become a villain by the evil mascot, Venalita.
Tres Magia’s true identity is that of three high school girls who go to the same school as Utena Hiiragi. They are Hanabishi Haruka (Magia Magenta), Minakami Sayo (Magia Azul), and Tenkawa Kaoruko (Magia Sulfur).
They all belong to the same class, but Tres Magia and even Utena don’t recognize each other whenever they aren't fighting.
Unlike Utena, who has a star-shaped item for her transformation, the Tres Magia has heart-shaped transformation items. They also carry magical wands or staff, which have a heart-shaped emblem.
So, Why Can’t Tres Magia Recognize Utena in Gushing Over Magical Girls?
Interestingly, the heroes and villains in Gushing Over Magical Girls don’t recognize each other even though they don’t have masks, which other heroes from different shows love to wear to avoid being identified.
It’s giving us Superman vibes, with all the people (including the villains) not being able to recognize the man of steel whenever he’s not donning his superhero costume.
Still, it’s not uncommon for heroes and villains to not recognize each other when they’re not fighting.
In Gushing Over Magical Girls, both the Tres Magia and Utena Hiiragi are protected by some kind of magic, which prevents them from recognizing each other whenever they’re not fighting.
This magic is still unknown, but it's more or less the reason they can’t recognize each other whenever they’re in the classroom studying the same subjects.
Will They Recognize Each Other in Gushing Over Magical Girls? Our Predictions
The first episode of Gushing Over Magical Girls has only premiered, so it will be difficult to determine whether Tres Magia and Utena Hiiragi will be able to recognize each other sometime in the future.
However, it will not be a surprise if, at some point, it happens. Perhaps the magic that protects their identities will be broken by another powerful magic or one of them will be able to witness the other do their transformation.
For now, let’s enjoy the rest of Gushing Over Magical Girls and not stress over it. There will be more exciting episodes to come where we’ll see Utena and Tres Magia face each other.
