Gundam fans are already excited for SEED’s long-awaited return. Now, there’s even more reason to look forward to it as the upcoming Gundam SEED FREEDOM movie revealed more new cast members that are popular anime VAs.
The new voice cast members were revealed on the anime’s official website and X account. Specifically, there are seven new VAs that have joined the cast, all of whom should be familiar to most anime fans.
Even before the cast’s reveal, the upcoming Gundam film already had a stacked cast. Now, it has become one of the most star-studded upcoming anime movies.
Gundam SEED Returns After Over a Decade
Gundam SEED may not be the most acclaimed show in the franchise, but it’s fair to say that it’s one of the most popular. After all, it’s the iconic Mobile Suit Gundam series of the 2000s.
Despite its popularity, the show has been dormant over the years as no new project was made. There was a film that was announced back in 2006, but there hasn’t been any update on that in the years that followed.
Finally, it was revealed this year that the long-awaited Gundam SEED movie is coming in 2024. While it was originally announced with just a visual, a trailer was released in August.
Even though it has been well over a decade since the original anime, the new movie retains the look of the anime series. It also helps that the original VAs are returning.

Gundam SEED FREEDOM's New Voice Cast List Is Impressive
Aside from returning cast members, the movie is also introducing new characters, all of whom are voiced by notable anime VAs. These include:
- Kentaro Tone (Akira Hattori in Bakuman) as Liu Shenqiang
- Yoshitsugu Matsuoka (Kirito in Sword Art Online) as Daniel Harper
- Hiro Shimono (Zenitsu in Demon Slayer) as Orphee Lam Tao
- Yukari Tamura (Elizabeth Midford in Black Butler) as Aura Maha Khyber
- Sumire Uesaka (Hayase Nagatoro in Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro) as Ingrid Tradoll
- Misato Fukuen (Himiko Toga in My Hero Academia) as Redelard Tradoll
- Yūichi Nakamura (Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen) as Shura Serpentine
This isn’t the entire cast though, as there are still a couple of characters who have yet to get voice cast announcements. More details about these will likely be shared soon.
Gundam SEED FREEDOM will be released in Japan on January 26, 2024. Currently, there’s no word yet on release plans for the film internationally.
