We already know that Star-Lord is big on 80s pop culture references. But how does Peter Quill feel about Star Wars? Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star Chris Pratt confirmed that his character is a fan of the galaxy far, far away.
The official Guardians of the Galaxy Twitter account recently shared videos of Chris Pratt answering fan questions. One fan wondered, "Is Peter Quill a Star Wars fan?"
Chris Pratt immediately pointed out that this is a huge possibility.
"Of course, he would have been," he replied. "His entire life is based on emulating his pop culture icons and, of course, he would have been a huge fan of Star Wars."
Pratt added that one particular character inspired Peter Quill to become the hero that he became to be in Guardians of the Galaxy.
"I think Han Solo in particular would have been a large influence on who he ends up being. So yes, there's certainly a lot of Han Solo in the character of Star-Lord," he said.
It's interesting that people need to ask about this in the first place. After all, Peter Quill always operated like Han Solo, especially in the first Guardians of the Galaxy film.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 actually featured a Star Wars actor. Tara Strong, who provided the voice of Risha in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, took over the role of Mainframe. The Ravager was originally played by Miley Cyrus in one of the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 mid-credits scenes.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 brings back Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Sean Gunn, Elizabeth Debicki, Maria Bakalova, and Sylvester Stallone. Chukwudi Iwuji and Will Poulter join the cast as the High Evolutionary and Adam Warlock, respectively.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now screening in theaters worldwide.
