Gotham's Firefly is Coming to Detective Comics

It's always interesting seeing characters made exclusively for comic book shows make their way into comic books. Firestar from Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends was an early example and Harley Quinn from Batman: The Animated Series is proof that the character can work in different mediums. She is currently one of the most popular DC characters right now and is expected to headline multiple spin-off films in the future.

While not as popular as the aforementioned characters, it is interesting to know that the female version of Firefly from Gotham will be brought to the main DC Comics canon, courtesy of writer James Robinson. He will be taking over Detective Comics for an arc revolving around Two-Face and the theme of duality.

Not only will Two-Face play a major role in the story, but the female Firefly will also be joined by the male version. In addition to that, grittier versions of Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum, who we last saw in Tom King's Batman but will be based on Brian Azzarello's much darker versions.

This has the potential to be an interesting arc, even though we know that Robinson won't be writing the title for too long as Peter J. Tomasi was recently announced to take over the series with issue #994. Since Robinson is taking over with September's #988, he will likely stay on for six issues.

Detective Comics #988 comes out on September 12, written by Robinson and drawn by Stephen Segovia and Carmine Di Giandomenico.
