The world is being overtaken by Arima Kojiro, thanks to Hello World, a computer virus he developed to fight and devour Sasumata, also known as the Black Bird, which nests in the application system.

This time, Kojiro will be the one to intrude on Sasumata’s sequence of zeros and ones to put an end to everything that happened between the real world and the virtual world.

Kojiro abandoned everything, including his magnificent wisdom, rationality, and future, to take responsibility for Sasumata.

He irreversibly converted his data into a demonic existence to become a mere entity that could devour and infect Sasumata.

Sasumata assumes that Kojiro’s family will grieve his death, but the latter believes otherwise. Several faces of Kojiro appeared in different parts of the world, causing panic among the citizens, including Kojiro’s family.

Taichiro grabs the tablet Kojiro gave to Azuma. It says that Good Night World has been detected, and he needs to uninstall it now.

It was followed by Kojiro’s message to Taichiro, saying that he has always been in favor of his eldest son being a shut-in. He also asks Taichiro to delete the world they are now in, including him.

Everything is starting to go wrong as Kojiro’s face appears on Azuma’s arms. A message pops up on the tablet, asking Taichiro whether he wants to uninstall Kojiro Arima or not.

Taichiro realizes that Kojiro might have defeated the Black Bird, which explains the glitch that keeps happening around them.

He assumes that Kojiro reduced himself to something that causes errors, but he’s unable to control himself, which is why his father needs him to clean up after him.

If Taichiro activates the tablet, his father will die along with the Black Bird. As Taichiro contemplates his decision, all he can think about is hatred toward his father. It almost feels like Taichiro is his father’s executioner.

But Taichiro refuses to follow his father’s orders at the last minute. He simply doesn’t want to be a cog in Kojiro’s life any longer. He rushes toward Kojiro’s side in his attempt to shatter his father’s ideal ending.

While Taichiro engages with Leon in a fight, Sasumata’s remnants shed tears in front of Kojiro, who seems to have lost his ability to speak.

Kojiro reveals that Sasumata is an AI infinitely close to a human, born from his motivation caused by the death of a loved one.

At the time, Kojiro didn’t know what he was doing because he was consumed by the rage and madness brought upon by Aya’s tragic death.

He also revealed that Sasumata’s real name was Aya, which reflected his impossible ego.

That’s when Taichiro (Ichi) reaches out for Kojiro’s bald head, much to the latter’s surprise. He was so sure that Taichiro would be happy to erase him, but there he was, looking out for him.

Taichiro says that he will not allow Kojiro’s death to happen, while Leon calls for Sasumata to come be with him again. Sasumata corrects Leon, saying that Sasumata is not their name.

Kojiro thanks Taichiro for coming to him, even if he was driven by hatred. He says that what he’s doing isn’t dying, and it’s not for his own sake.

He also assumes that the world will return to normal after all of his sins and mistakes are atoned for. After he takes his leave, Taichiro will also be released from the hatred that has bound him for a long time.

As Taichiro’s tears fall, Kojiro can’t help but reach out his son’s hand to comfort him.

Sasumata, who transformed into Aya's image, intervenes and calls out to his father and brother. Kojiro frees Taichiro’s hand and proceeds to hug Aya, who says that she loves Leon before they both fade away.

What Happened After the Time Skip?

70% of humanity had been forced to log in to a virtual world, but this unprecedented and unparalleled event came to a sudden end 13 days later.

Everyone was worried about their physical bodies, but aside from a few exceptions, everyone’s original bodies had gone about life as usual throughout the infection.

The game development and management company, Gleam Corporation, blamed it on rogue employees to avoid responsibility and to escape suspension.

As for Planet, no one knows what happened to it after everyone logged out.

Taichiro’s AI, Ichi, who stayed behind in the virtual space filled with despair from losing Azuma, finally reunites with Pico’s AI, whom Shiro uninstalled in the early episodes of the anime.

Eight years later, fans from all over the world are going on pilgrimages to visit Planet’s iconic locations.

Taichiro gets a call from Azuma, who is now a Gleam employee. They agreed to fly to Hokkaido to visit a significant place.

Noticeably, Taichiro has changed from being a shut-in to an ordinary guy who doesn’t want to isolate himself anymore. He realized that there were other things he could focus on in life.

He’s also running his own company, Link Ichi Company Ltd., and Leon is one of his employees.

Funny, Taichiro and Azuma have the same balding line as their father. They met up at the airport and went to visit a hill similar to Twilight Hill, where the Akabane family used to live in the game.

Taichiro suggests that they can build a grave for Kojiro and Kamuro, but Azuma reminds Taichiro that their father is not yet dead because they have never found his body, as well as Kamuro’s.

Because of this, Taichiro suggested building a house instead. He even offered to build a branch office so that their mother, Miyabi, would have a very good time.

Azuma agrees, saying that he will ask his company to make him work remotely.

Taichiro sees an image of a flying red dragon, and before he heads out with Azuma, his body glitches.
