Giancarlo Esposito has become one of the most prominent actors in the genre space for the last several years thanks to his roles in The Mandalorian, The Boys, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. He's also known for playing Gus Fring in the Breaking Bad franchise.

As a result, we've also been seeing his name in a lot of fan cast suggestions online for various Marvel and DC roles in both heroic and villainous roles.

So far, the Emmy-nominated actor has not signed on to either comic book movie franchise, but he has publicly expressed his interest in becoming part of one of them and is aware that he's been suggested for several fan casts.

Now, it looks like his involvement in a major comic book movie franchise is no longer far-fetched as he revealed recently that he was in talks to join one of them.

In his recent appearance at Comic-Con Panama (via X user @swshriv), Esposito was asked during the Q&A session of his panel whether we will ever see him appear in a DC movie.

He excitedly told the audience that he was in talks with DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn prior to the actor's strike about potentially joining the DCU. He didn't reveal however which role he is being eyed on.

"I have been talking to James Gunn about the possibility of being in a movie. So who knows? It could happen soon," he said.

The audience in the panel gave a roaring response to the Emmy-nominated actor's answer.

It is certainly exciting to see the possibility that Esposito might join the DCU soon given that he has been suggested by fans for various comic book character roles and it is looking like it will finally become a reality soon.

Esposito is also no stranger to the DC universe since he has voiced various characters in direct-to-video animated Batman films and has a recurring voice role of Lex Luthor in the Max animated series Harley Quinn.

Given that he has become known for playing antagonists in several films and TV shows, it won't be surprising if he also ends up playing a villain in the DC. At the same time, there is also a possibility that he could play someone on the heroic side for a change.
