Geoff Johns Quits as DCEU's Head of Entertainment

For a while, it seemed that the DCEU was grooming Geoff Johns to be the Kevin Feige equivalent of DC Entertainment. With the recent shake-up however, and DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson leaving, Johns has also revealed he will be stepping down to take on a more creative, hand-on role.

Here's Johns' official statement (via The Hollywood Reporter):

"I took on a role at DCE because I love the characters and this universe more than anything. But, I want to spend my days writing and on set. I'm thrilled to get back to a more hands-on creative role. It's a dream job on dream projects, reaching even deeper into DC's vast pantheon of characters."

For now, it looks like Johns role will be filled in by longtime DCEU artist/publisher Jim Lee. It's also worth noting that the movie division of DC still has producer Walter Hamada at the helm. After a disastrous release of Justice League last year, a lot of fans are expecting the DCEU to make a comeback sometime in 2019.

The DCEU is taking things slowly with Aquaman being the only DCEU film set to come out this year. Hopefully the franchise gets to find an all new stride by the time the 2019 movies kick in. Shazam! is looking amazing, and I bet a lot of people have already decided they want to watch Wonder Woman 2.

Let's just hope it's all too good to be true.
