HoYoverse announced that a new collaboration with animation studio Ufotable was in the works back in September 2022 during the 3.1 version livestream, which introduced the gamers to a Genshin Impact anime.

While they released a three-minute concept trailer shared on the official account of Genshin Impact, we have yet to receive news on when our first sneak peak or preview will arrive. However, a rumor has started within the Genshin Impact community.

According to Twitter users @Teyvattabloid2, @Bardopacotilla and @PeepawRichter, the Genshin Impact anime has already finished at least 8 episodes out of a total of 12, with the first preview / anime teaser reportedly releasing on March 2 or May 2 this year. Two of the sources stated May 2, but the latter mentioned March 2. Check out the tweets below:

Seeing as all three sources have outrightly stated this comes from a “SUS” leak and HoYoverse and Ufotable have yet to speak on such details, it is important to take this information with a grain of salt until further announcements.

The episode count is actually speculated to be over 80 episodes, and seeing as anime nowadays, specifically Demonslayer, the series Ufotable is widely known for, usually contain 12 episodes in each season, it is safe to presume that the over 80 episodes is the total seeing as each season is bound to focus on one region at a time.

With seven regions of Teyvat: Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya, and potentially including at least 12 episodes each season, then having over 80 episodes is likely.

And according to @Teyvattabloid2, the anime will take place before the arrival of the twin travelers: Aether and Lumine, which should show the Archon Wars upon which one season for each region or nation will be shown after.

Genshin Impact is one of the most popular Gacha games right now, so leading to an anime adaptation was not far-fetched. Seeing as the RPG has introduced quite an evolved story of the open world of Teyvat, the ongoing story of the Traveler in search for their twin continues to unravel as each update of the game passes.

The Genshin Impact anime has no official release date for now, but you can stay tuned here on EpicStream for more updates on this story!
