What Is Genshin Impact?
Genshin Impact is one of the most popular free-to-play online games around right now. Heavily inspired by anime, the action RPG has players travel throughout an open world in search of the Archons of the seven elements.
Genshin Impact was originally released for Android, iOS, Windows, and PlayStation 4 on September 28, 2020, and was later launched for PlayStation 5 on April 28, 2021.
In September 2022, during Genshin's Version 3.1 Special Programme, developer HoYoverse announced a new collaboration with animation studio Ufotable, the producers of the Demon Slayer anime.
A three-minute concept trailer was later shared on the official Twitter account of Genshin Impact, showing off the art style and themes that will be featured in the upcoming anime.

The official Twitter account of Genshin Impact shared a concept trailer for the "long-term" project on YouTube, in collaboration with the anime studio Ufotable.
The video shares a brief journey through the world of Genshin Impact as it may look in a future anime. Its description reads: "Let's step into this vast magical world of adventure together."
The trailer itself is pretty vague, but it appears that Ufotable and HoYoverse may be looking at more than just a simple anime series for Genshin Impact in the future!
When Will the Genshin Impact Anime Be Released?
There is no indication of a release date for the Genshin Impact anime yet. Given that we have only seen the concept trailer so far and we are nearing Fall 23, it doesn't seem likely that the anime will come out soon.
As HoYoverse has only released a concept trailer for the Genshin Impact anime so far, it'll probably take at least a year before the first episodes are released.
Ufotable has finished producing Demon Slayer Season 3, which aired in Spring 23, but a fourth season has also been confirmed for the popular anime.
This means the studio is likely focused on the new Demon Slayer season while working on the Genshin Impact anime, though there is likely some progress going on behind the scenes.
Currently, neither HoYoverse nor Ufotable has provided an official release window. We will update this page once it is officially announced.
What Is the Plot of the Genshin Impact Anime?
The Genshin Impact RPG is set in the world of Teyvat, which is composed of the seven major nations of Liyue, Mondstadt, Inazuma, Fontaine, Sumeru, Natlan, and Snezhnaya. A different god rules each of these nations.
In the game's plot, shown in the video above, a pair of twins who travel across different worlds arrive in Teyvat but attempt to leave after finding the nation of Khaenri'ah under cataclysmic siege.
However, they are split apart by a god who takes one twin and seals away the other.
The sealed twin, known as the "Traveler", awakens 500 years later and meets a companion named Paimon, and the two embark on a journey to find the missing twin.
The anime is expected to take place in the same world, and its story will likely be similar to the player character's journeys in the game.
One aspect of the anime that might have a big change from the game is the fate of the twins.
As mentioned, the game splits the twins apart – this is how the player chooses a male or female character, with the search for the other twin a crucial part of the story.
However, Ufotable's teaser features both twins still together, which is likely to be a more appetizing prospect for producers than choosing one character (and potentially shunning the other).
It will be interesting to see how the anime creators overcome this potential hurdle in the story. As of writing, though, plot details for the upcoming Genshin Impact anime are still being kept under wraps.
Genshin Impact Anime Voice Cast
The Genshin Impact anime's official announcement did not provide any details about the voice cast of the upcoming project.
That being said, many video game anime adaptations utilize the same voice actors from the game, so we can make some predictions.
Genshin Impact has a huge cast of characters that players meet and play during their travels, so it's not clear who will appear in the anime.

How Many Episodes Will the Genshin Impact Anime Have?
There is no word yet on how many episodes the Genshin Impact anime will have. In fact, we don't even know yet whether it will be a traditional TV anime release!
There were some rumors that the Genshin Impact anime will have 12 episodes, but this hasn't been confirmed.
As it is being described as a "long-term collaboration project", there may be multiple iterations of Genshin Impact anime.
This could include TV series, original net animations (straight to streaming shows like Cyberpunk: Edgerunners), and potential theatrical productions.
