Game of Thrones Fans Already Worried About Aegon the Conqueror's Spinoff Series

In case you missed it, HBO is reportedly developing a new Game of Thrones spin-off that will focus on Aegon's Conquest. Not surprisingly, people are eager to take another dive into Targaryen lore in the world of Westeros. On the other hand, fans of George R.R. Martin's books aren't as enthusiastic as they express their fear that Aegon the Conqueror's story will be mishandled by the network.

Variety reported about the new Game of Thrones series, revealing that it is currently in early development. Although there are no writers or producers attached to the project just yet, sources report that there are plans for a feature film that could lead to a potential series.

It certainly sounds like HBO and Warner Bros. have huge plans for another Aegon Targaryen. However, this is THE original Aegon and fans are getting salty about the possibility that the character will be portrayed as anything less than a good king.

Aegon Targaryen is known as Aegon the Conqueror because he took his sister-wives Visenya and Rhaenys to conquer six of the seven kingdoms of Westeros (Dorne is the only exception). His story takes place 300 years before the events in Game of Thrones, which means it will be a good 100 years before House of the Dragon.

Aegon's story is only referenced in George R.R. Martin's books and the HBO shows. This means that writers will have a lot of work on and hopefully, they will get to work with Martin to make sure the Targaryen king is portrayed properly.

We're all excited about a new Game of Thrones sequel but also wary of the project considering that HBO has already nixed a prequel in the past. Moreover, there haven't been a lot of updates on the other spin-off shows that are being developed. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
