Game of Thrones Director on Ghost Getting Snubbed by Jon

The latest season of Game of Thrones has not been getting well-received by fans, and the last episode just gave people more to complain about. One of the biggest complaints was about Jon leaving Ghost off to Tormund and not even giving him a pat goodbye. As it turns out, this was an issue with CGI.

Talking to the Huffington Post, director David Nutter explained, "Since the direwolves are kind of CG creations, we felt it best to keep it as simple as possible… And I think that it played out much more powerfully that way." Nutter also added, "Then he just walks off by himself, he turns to Ghost and has this moment with Ghost that I thought was very, very powerful."

Despite Nutter's comments, I'm sure a lot of fans would disagree with Jon making the snub. The show basically builds it up so that Jon's relationship with Ghost is just as close as Daenerys is to her dragons. How is it that he gets to hug his friends when they leave but refuses to even acknowledge the "good boi" which has been with him since Season One?

If you've been watching the season so far, it's actually like they only thought of adding Ghost to the story after they shot everything. It's been such a long time since we actually saw Jon acknowledge Ghost, that everyone was convinced he was lost beyond the Wall. Sure we were happy to see him come back this season, but it looks like they only made him leave with Tormund so they could spend more CGI on the dragons. If you even watch the scene, we don't actually get to see Jon say 'direwolf'. He could as well be referring to something else in the shot.

Hopefully, everything turns out better in the last two episodes of Game of Thrones. Catch the next one on HBO this Sunday night.
