Furiosa: Charlize Theron Weighs in on Anya Taylor-Joy Casting in Fury Road Prequel

We already know that Anya Taylor-Joy is taking over as Furiosa in the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road prequel but what does Charlize Theron think about the casting? The Atomic Blonde star shared her thoughts on the new actor taking over the role she originated.

Back in 2020, George Miller confirmed he is working on a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road that would focus on Furiosa. Although fans were hoping to see Charlize Theron back in action, it was later announced that Anya Taylor-Joy will play the young Furiosa in the new movie.

But what does Charlize Theron have to say about the casting? The Old Guard star told Entertainment Tonight that she previously met the Queen's Gambit actor and believes it's a great fit for the character.

"I met her years ago and I haven't really been around her at a function or anything like that... I think she's going to be totally OK," Theron said.

"Without talking to me, she's going to be absolutely fine," she added.

We're happy to know that Charlize Theron agrees that Anya Taylor-Joy will be great as the young Furiosa. Needless to say, people are already looking forward to the Fury Road prequel when it comes out next year.

Furiosa will also star Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Nathan Jones, Angus Sampson, and Quaden Bayles. The prequel follows the young Furiosa as she is "snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus" before finding the Citadel presided over by Immortan Joe.

Caught between two warlords, Furiosa must find a way to survive so she can return to her beloved home.

Furiosa is directed by longtime Mad Max director George Miller and is currently scheduled for release on May 24, 2024.
