After its announcement a few months ago, the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End anime got its first trailer that revealed its main star and impressive staff members.

The new trailer for the show is simply beautiful, as it captures the vibe of the manga near-perfectly.

Interestingly, the anime is being made by Madhouse, an iconic studio with a wide range of well-known works.

Meanwhile, its staff members are veterans from various shows, including the Fall 22 mega-hit Bocchi the Rock!

When talking about fantasy anime, many fans probably think about isekai.

After all, isekai anime are a dime a dozen nowadays, though there are still some pure fantasy anime shows released every year.

One of these is Frieren, which is based on the manga of the same name.

Instead of being a fantasy series where a group of adventurers faces a demon king, Frieren follows an elf in the aftermath of the main villain’s defeat.

Check out the new trailer here:

Based on the new trailer, Frieren has a melancholic feel to it instead of a typical action fantasy series.

This is because the story is set decades after the villain’s defeat and sees the main character grappling with the passage of time.

Madhouse is working on the show, which is interesting given that the studio isn’t as talked about now compared to the likes of MAPPA or Wit.

Nonetheless, it is still a noteworthy studio, with hits such as One-Punch Man and Overlord under its belt.

The voice actress for the main character, Frieren, was also revealed, and it is none other than Atsumi Tanezaki, the voice of Anya Forger in Spy x Family as well as Lady Nagant in My Hero Academia.

While none of the other cast members have been announced yet, the main staff members have been revealed.

Directing the show is Keiichiro Saito, who also directed Bocchi the Rock!

Joining him are One-Punch Man writer Tomohiro Suzuki, takt op. Destiny character designer Reiko Nagasawa, and Violet Evergarden composer Evan Call.

While she's not part of the show’s staff, Bocchi the Rock! creator Aki Hamaji shared her excitement for Frieren, especially as the Bocchi director is taking the helm.

The Frieren: Beyond Journey's End anime is set to release in Fall 2023, meaning its premiere should happen sometime in October 2023.
