Freddie Prinze Jr. Drops Bombshell About Kanan Jarrus’ Star Wars Future

If you are a fan of the Force-sensitive human male Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus, you are probably wondering if Freddie Prinze Jr. as the character has a future in the franchise.

Prinze Jr. was last seen in Star Wars when he did cameos for The Bad Batch and The Rise of Skywalker, but the actor revealed the reason he came back for these appearances.

Sitting down on Kristian Harloff's YouTube channel, the actor revealed that he only returned as the character out of favor, not because he wanted to, given that he's already done with the role.

“I was asked to, yeah. I didn’t necessarily want to. I feel like every time you hear Kanan’s voice since Rebels ended, it really kind of dilutes his impact.” he said regarding his cameo in The Bad Batch.

The She’s All That actor was also asked if the favor extended to his appearance in The Rise of Skywalker when he spoke to Rey through the Force.

“Yeah, I didn’t want to do that either. I was asked as a favor and I feel like all my — all their favors are used up now,” said Prinze Jr.

The show's host then tried to get something out of the actor, asking if his character could be expected in future Star Wars offerings, like Ahsoka.

“No Ahsoka, I’m done with Kanan. I’m too old for that stuff.” Prinze Jr. reasoned.

Rebels‘ final season saw the emotional death of Kanan. Despite the history of Star Wars resurrecting dead characters, the Scooby-Doo star insisted that the story had been told and he was officially done.

“Kanana's story – at least for me – is done, I thought it ended beautifully. People cried, I was very happy about that. I don't mean that like a jerk: our goal was to make you cry. I didn't even want to do the little voice-over in the last Star Wars movie. I thought it felt forced.” he said to ComicBook.

He continued, “To me, every time I'm asked to do Kanan it waters down what was a beautiful ending... It's this amazing powerful moment. So for me, that story's been told, and it's done, and I wouldn't have any interest in that. And it would be weird to play a different character in that universe, so I don't have any ambition to be in the Star Wars Universe.”

Even if Prinze Jr. is done with Star Wars, fans can hope that it is not the last time they will see the best of Kanan Jarrus in the franchise's stories, even if it means being portrayed by another actor.
