First Bumblebee Trailer is Already Better Than Previous Transformers Films

After yesterday's announcement about the first teaser, Paramount Pictures has finally released the trailer to Bumblebee. This teaser doesn't show a lot but we what we do get looks interesting. At the least, it already has a better plot than the previous Transformers movies, even if it doesn't look too original.

In only two minutes, we see Bumblebee transform, Hailee Steinfeld's interaction with him, John Cena as a soldier (still can't see him), and to the surprise of many, Starscream. The latter wasn't used too well in previous Transformers films so it will be interesting to see how he is used here. It's also worth noting that Bumblebee is much smaller here than he was in the mainline series.

Director Travis Knight previously hinted that this spinoff would feel different from the other films in the series and it can definitely be felt in this trailer. What will be difficult is making sure the movie doesn't feel like a rehash of the Iron Giant or E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, which is very easy to do. Given his work in Kubo and the Two Strings, it looks like this could be of good quality.

Bumblebee hits theaters this December. It already looks better than the Last Knight and Extinction.
