Final Fantasy VII Remake Changes How Summoning Works

Final Fantasy VII Remake is looking to be a fantastic title and one that could be a bestseller for Square Enix when it comes out early next year. Despite being a remake, the game has ended up making a ton of changes, giving us beautiful graphics, a solid, Final Fantasy XV-like combat system, and now, how summoning works. Unlike the original game, where you can use a Summon in battle if you have the MP, using these creatures in the remake is going to be a bit harder.

According to Final Fantasy VII Remake Producer Yoshinori Kitase, players will only be able to use summons like Ifrit in boss battles or against tough enemies. They will be like materia where players must equip them so that they eventually make their way into battle. Trailers have shown us that the summons will have a mind of their own, though they won't hurt the player.

Shiva and Ifrit are the two confirmed Summons for Final Fantasy VII Remake thus far, though the pre-order bonus did reveal that a Chocobo will also be one. It will be interesting to see who else they add, though they probably won't include certain ones that appeared late-game in the original game.

Considering how good it looks and the fact that multiple parts are on the way, Final Fantasy VII Remake is a game you have to be excited about. It just looks too good and should be really fun to play, if the previous gameplay videos are anything to go by. If we could get a demo, that would be great.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming to the PS4 on March 3, 2020.
