Final Fantasy VII Remake Developers are Working on a New Next-Gen Game

Square Enix is leaving the current generation of gaming with a bang, thanks to next year's Final Fantasy VII Remake and Kingdom Hearts III, which came out earlier this year. Though most of us are waiting for more parts of the Final Fantasy VII Remake to be announced, it looks like we're going to be getting a new IP from these developers for the PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlett.

First Development Division, a game developer under Square Enix that worked on the aforementioned games, is working on a brand-new IP and they are hiring, according to the Square Enix Japan recruitment website. A translation from Gematsu reveals that the developers are "aiming to realize a ‘next-generation action game experience' that goes beyond the framework of existing action games, with an international team of creators from all over the world."

Considering how fun Kingdom Hearts III was and how good Final Fantasy VII Remake looks, it's easy to assume that the next-generation IP is going to be a good game. Unfortunately, there are no screenshots of the game so we don't know what kind of title it's going to be but we should have some faith.

No release date for this brand-new IP from First Development Division was announced, though it's worth noting that the PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlett are currently planned for a late 2020 release. Final Fantasy VII Remake will be coming to the PS4 on March 3, 2020, while Kingdom Hearts III is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
