Everything Everywhere All At Once Nabs Theatrical Return After Oscar Nominations

The majority may have set their eyes on big-screen successes like Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar: The Way of Water at the 95th Academy Awards, but the sci-fi indie hit Everything Everywhere All At Once stands out as they led with 11 Oscar Nominations, including nods for Crazy Rich Asians actress Michelle Yeoh and former Indiana Jones child star Ke Huy Quan.

Everything Everywhere All At Once has been nominated for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and six other major nods. With this, one of the film’s directors, Daniel Kwan, announced on Twitter that their Oscar-nominated film will be returning to theaters nationwide. Check out his tweet below:

Standing alongside Everything Everywhere All At Once’s Best Picture nominations are The Banshees of Inisherin, The Fabelmans, Tar, Top Gun: Maverick, Avatar: The Way of Water, Elvis, All Quiet on the Western Front, Women Talking, and Triangle of Sadness.

However, what makes the multiverse-jumping film stand out is the fact that it grossed $104.1 million in spite of its $25 million budget, which is significantly outspent by other recent films such as Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Avatar: The Way of Water (both of which had $250 million budget).

Not to mention, Michelle Yeoh made history for Asian women as she became the first Asian Lead Actress in an Oscar Nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role. Following the news of her Oscar nomination, Yeoh has spoken with Deadline, wherein the actress sends her wishes for the Asian community to never give up on their dreams:

“I think what I — what it means to me, is all those Asians out there [to] go, “You see, it’s possible. If she can do it, I can freaking well do it, as well,” Yeoh said, “That is the most important thing. I’m very ordinary. I just work very hard. There are so many brilliant actresses, actors out there who know that they have a seat at the table. All they have to do is find an opportunity and get there.”
