The 96th Academy Awards has announced their Oscar nominees for this year 2023, as announced by actors Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams on January 24. Everything Everywhere All At Once has been nominated in multiple categories, including Best Supporting Actor (Ke Huy Quan), Best Supporting Actress (Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu), Best Original Screenplay, Best Director (The Daniels), Best Picture, and most importantly — Michelle Yeoh for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Yeoh has built her career from the ground up, as she not only starred in massive franchises such as Marvel and soon, The Witcher: Blood Origin, but has also nabbed a historic award for being the first Asian Lead Actress in an Oscar nomination.

Following the news of her Oscar nomination, Yeoh has recently spoken with Deadline, the actress reiterates that the massive accomplishment is part of what she wishes for the Asian community: to grab ahold of their dreams and work hard for it. The actress notes that while she believes there are other more brilliant actors than her, this sets a good inspiration for her fellow Asian actors that they, too, can do it, too. “I think what I — what it means to me, is all those Asians out there go, “You see, it’s possible. If she can do it, I can freaking well do it, as well,” Yeoh said, “That is the most important thing. I’m very ordinary. I just work very hard. There are so many brilliant actresses, actors out there who know that they have a seat at the table. All they have to do is find an opportunity and get there.”
The 95th Academy Awards ceremony will be hosted by comedian Jimmy Kimmel and is set to air on ABC on March 12th.
