Portrayed by Brian Tyree Henry, Phastos is among the ten Eternals who would come together after thousands of years in hiding as the threat of the Deviants reemerging on Earth. As warned by Ajak, they only have seven days and Ikaris answers the call by looking for each of them and convincing them to join the cause.

Phastos is the handyman of the Eternals. As described by Brian Tyree Henry in a featurette introducing each of them, he can “assemble anything out of any kind of technology.” Seen in various trailers, he creates things from technology and uses them as weapons. He also has the key to what seems like the ship they used to come here on Earth.

With speed, strength, and flight just like other Eternals, Phastos was later introduced in the comics than the others. He was the maker of the sword of Kingo. To cut it all short, he is the craftsman or the blacksmith of the team. Another character up for diversity and representation, he will be the other half of the first openly gay couple in the MCU, living a happily married life with his husband.

Opening the possibilities of more representation and inclusion, Phastos has a husband and a child. As per Kevin Feige, having such is “just the start” of having members of the LGBTQ+ on screen.

The Eternals are as follows: Ikaris (Richard Madden) is the Prime Eternal, leader of the team; Thena (Angelina Jolie), squaring off as the other leader of the group; Ajak (Salma Hayek), a Trojan War veteran; Gilgamesh (Don Lee/ Dong-seok Ma), also known as the Forgotten One; and Sersi (Gemma Chan), an enchantress and conjurer.

Other members of the Eternals are Makkari (Lauren Ridloff), the deaf speedster; Sprite (Lia McHugh), an Eternal trapped in the body of an 11-year-old; Kingo Sunen (Kumail Nanjiani), the skilled swordsman; Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), the blacksmith; and Druig (Barry Keoghan), an ominous Eternal.

See the debut of Phastos in Marvel’s Eternals premiering on November 5, 2021, exclusively in theaters.
