Elizabeth Olsen has been a staple in the MCU since Phase Two of the franchise and we have seen a lot of growth in her character Wanda Maximoff for years that culminated with her turn as the Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Given her ambiguous fate at the end of the film, Olsen's future in the MCU still remains unknown although the actress has expressed her desire to continue the role and perhaps explore her character's mutant origins.

At the same time, the actress has also been adamant about reducing her presence in the franchise in order to take on more roles aside from her iconic MCU role.

So far, Olsen is still attached to the franchise as far as we know and reports claimed that she is set to make more appearances in various projects (not including Deadpool 3).

However, it looks like the actress' plan to slow down in playing Wanda Maximoff might become more definitive very soon as she is now more eager to distance herself from the character.

In an interview with The Times of London that was conducted prior to the actors' strike, Olsen opened up about her plans to take on more non-MCU roles and move on from playing Wanda Maxmimoff.

While she has nothing against being part of the MCU, her frequent appearance in the franchise in the last few years has also made her seek new roles such as her acclaimed performance as Candy Montgomery in Love and Death.

"I’m trying to figure out… Because, specifically in the last four years, my output has been Marvel. I don’t want… it’s not that I don’t want to be associated as just this character. But I really feel like I need to be building other parts back up for balance," Olsen said.

"I so much want to do films right now. And I hope some of them come together in the way I feel like they can. But yeah, that’s something that I need. I just need other characters in my life. There’s no longevity in one character."

You really can't blame Olsen for wanting to play more roles aside from Wanda Maximoff in the MCU since most actors always seek different roles that they can chew on and not just stick to one character where they are prone to be stereotyped or shoehorned into a certain box.

It helps that Olsen is a talented actress as proven by her acclaimed performances and the accolades that she received so far in her career so she might not have a hard time finding a different project that she can star in.

Her statement here also doesn't mean that her tenure in the MCU is over since she could still continue playing Wanda while doing other projects which we have seen most actors in this franchise have also done. She is just eager now to take various roles and distance for a bit.

Whether Olsen's tenure in the MCU will be over soon or not, she has already done a lot of great work in the franchise at this point and she has cemented herself as one of the most respectable actresses of our time regardless of being part of the MCU or not.
