The K-drama, D.P., is based on a popular 2015 webtoon called D.P. Dog Days. When the first season of the show was released, it quickly won the approval of critics.

Not to mention, it won numerous awards, including the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards' Best TV Drama. This is why the return of D.P. is a much-anticipated event.

D.P. Season 2 picks up where it left off in the first season. The unlikely soldiers working in the Deserter Pursuit unit will also be returning for more antics as they go on the hunt for defectors.

The good news is that the two main leads will be returning to reprise their roles in the show.

When Netflix confirmed that D.P. had been renewed for a second season, it also confirmed that Jung Hae In and Koo Kyo Hwan would be returning to reprise their roles.

Hae In stars as Private An Jun Ho. He is famous for his roles in Snowdrop and Something in the Rain.

The other main role is portrayed by Kyo Hwan, who will be returning as Corporal Han Ho Yeol. He is famous for his roles in Jane and in Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula.

In May 2022, the streaming platform announced that other cast members of D.P. will be returning to reprise their roles. These include Kim Sung Kyun as Sergeant Park and Son Seok Koo as Lieutenant Im Ji Sup.

In the same announcement, Netflix unveiled two other actors who will be joining the cast: Ji Jin Hee (from Move to Heaven) and Kim Ji Hyun (from Thirty-Nine).

Jin Hee will be playing Goo Ja Won, a chief legal officer based at the military headquarters. Meanwhile, Ji Hyun will be portraying Lieutenant Colonel Seo Eun, who is an operations officer from the Ministry of National Defense Prosecutor's Office.

This year, another actor was announced to join the cast of D.P. Season 2. Choi Hyun Wook (from Twenty One Twenty Five) was cast in the show.

Unfortunately, we don't know yet what his role will be.

Also returning from D.P. Season 1 is Cho Hyun Chul (as Private Cho Suk Bong).

Is Song Duk Ho Returning in D.P. Season 2?

Song Duk Ho starred in D.P. Season 2 as a supporting actor in the role of Lee Jae Chang. Unfortunately, it's unclear whether he will join the cast in the second season since he is currently on hiatus.

This is because Duk Ho became embroiled in allegations of hiring an illegal broker to evade mandatory military service.

The Military Manpower Administration looked into the accusations of high-profile celebrities who have illegally evaded military service. Apart from Duk Ho, the agency is also investigating Jo Jae Sung and VIXX singer Ravi.

Duk Ho's agency, Bistus Entertainment (quoted by The Korea Herald) has admitted to the "improper" way the actor got exempted from military service.

"While [Song] was looking for ways to postpone his military service last summer, he used an unfair way where he received a level four [during the examination] instead of delaying his enlistment date. [Song] is deeply reflecting on the incident and would like to apologize to those he disappointed."

We'll have to wait until the show gets released to confirm if Duk Ho will be reprising his role.

D.P. Season 2 is coming out on July 28, 2023. You can watch the official trailer here:
