In a nutshell, D.P. is a South Korean TV show that follows the story of An Jun Ho (played by Jung Hae In) and Han Ho Yeol (played by Koo Kyo Hwan), two soldiers who are on a mission to apprehend military deserters.

The show was inspired by a Lehzin webtoon called D.P. Dog's Day, which was created by Kim Bo Tong.

D.P. stands for Deserter Pursuit unit, which is the unit where the unlikely duo has been assigned.

When the show came out in 2021, it opened the eyes of the public to the harsh realities of military service in South Korea. But it managed to win several awards, such as best TV drama from the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards.

It was also recognized by The New York Times as one of 2021's best TV shows. The publication referred to the show as

"a sensitive and forthright examination of how violent, sadistic bullying and rigid hierarchies drive young South Korean men to go to almost any length to escape military time."
